Virginia McLean joined Growing Child Pediatrics in 2009. She then attended Loyola University of Chicago and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1983. Virginia went on to practice in various roles within pediatric health care including newborn nursery, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and specialty outpatient clinic settings.

After relocating to North Carolina in 1995, she worked for the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital as a pediatric surgical nurse where she was instrumental in beginning the pediatric pain team. Virginia returned to UNC where she received a Master of Science in Nursing specializing in pediatric nursing in 2007. Virginia has a special interest in asthma and obesity in children and teens.

Outside of Growing Child Pediatrics, Virginia enjoys spending time with her husband and four daughters. She enjoys cooking, hiking, and being outdoors.
