I have an extensive training in mental health issues. I earned a B.A. degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University and a Master of Social Work degree from East Carolina University, specializing in children/family mental health. While at my time at East Carolina University, I became certified in Substance Abuse studies. I have trained with our area's most qualified mental health professionals and child psychiatrists, many of whom earned their specialized degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Through this specialized training program, I am now a licensed clinical social worker. This specialized degree requires yearly continuing education and ethics training, all of which are monitored by the North Carolina Certification and Licensure Board. I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, which gives me access to a wide array of mental health resources.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents who may be experiencing stressors in their home or school environments. These stressors may come from being teased or bullied at school, academic and attention difficulties, parents divorcing, the birth of a new sibling, or a specific trauma, etc. Typically when our children become stressed or worried about something in their life, we see a change in their behaviors. If this is happening in your family, please give me a call and we can discuss therapeutic options to help your child and family return back to the positive pro-social behaviors that bring peace and comfort to your family.
