Breast milk or iron fortified formula contains all the nutrients and water that your baby needs.Solids and juices are not recommended at this age.
First smile, moving head side to side, focuses 8-12 inches from face. Pacifiers satisfy the need to suck and are not harmful to the infant.
Colic: between 1 and 3 months, babies may develop prolonged crying episodes, lasting sometimes 2-3 hours, usually at night. If your child is otherwise well with no vomiting, no diarrhea and no fever, the following suggestions may be helpful: mylicon drops, swaddling, rocking, walking, running the vacuum or dryer or taking the baby for a car ride.
Constipation: many babies groan, grunt, cry and strain with stools. If this is associated with hard, formed stools, this is constipation. If your babies stools are soft and not formed, these behaviors are a baby’s response to the normal discomfort of stooling. If your baby is truly constipated, increasing breastfeeding or giving an ounce or two of water a day may alleviate symptoms.
